Hike Directions: You’re going to have to hike the Upper Whitewater Gorge downstream from the upper access off Heady Mountain Road or upstream from NC281. Big Ledge is less than 700 feet from Wheelchair Accessible Falls and the only way to do it without a God awful bushwhack and a steep scramble is by following the Whitewater River up or downstream. I have done the bushwhack approach and it was horrid.
