The Waterfall on Cold Mountain Branch is the second waterfall you will encounter on the hike to Raven Rock Falls. This waterfall is the smaller of the two tributary falls, dropping around 25 feet in a single drop, making it a smaller version of Moore Cove. Like the Waterfall on Tributary 1, this waterfall is unnamed. The interesting aspect of this waterfall is that in order to reach Raven Rock Falls, you have to walk behind this waterfall on a bridge. For directions to this waterfall, refer to the Raven Rock Falls page. To photograph this waterfall you have three choices. The first is to shoot the waterfall in profile after crossing the bridge. This is the best angle. You can shoot it from the front but this will require walking out on the wet and slippery rocks, which I don’t recommend. The prospect is made less appealing since right about where you would want to stand the rock slopes down dramatically. You can also shoot from the other side but the angle isn’t that great and a fallen tree leaning against the rock face will hamper the shot.
