Where to park: Parking is in a wide area on Sellers Drive just before a forest service gate. The GSP for the spot is: 34.54464, -82.45109. It may seem like you’re driving onto someone’s property on the way to the spot, so keep that in mind. If the gate is open, you can drive the road for 0.2 miles to a point where an overgrown road turns to the right and park there.
The hike: The hike starts by heading past the gate on Sellers Drive and hiking 0.2 miles to an old road that branches off to the right, which is covered in downfall from recent logging. The road will head down a moderate grade toward the creek, and become more of a trail as it starts to parallel the creek. You will make an easy crossing of a creek and resume on the other side, only to cross back shortly thereafter. The trail will pass near the brink of the falls and continue downstream for a short distance to a point where it is safe to climb down. There were ropes on our visit, and once you reach the creek, there is a trail on the other side that leads up to the base.
If you’re feeling up to it, and the road is gated, you can hike 1.1 miles down Sellers Drive to pick up the trail to Hidden Cove Falls. If the gate is open, I presume you could drive it.
I didn’t know what to expect since I knew nothing about this waterfall going into it, but wow, super impressive
