Middle Creek Trib Falls is a slight detour on the way to Middle Creek Falls, and it is a very cool setting, but the creek has very low flow. The giant cavern is the best part, but I’m sure that after a big rain, this one is impressive. It’s like Moore Cove on steroids.

Where to park: Parking is at the Middle Creek Equestrian parking area in Big South Fork, which is located at GPS: 36.53421, -84.78074.

The hike: The hike starts on the Gobblers Knob Trail for the first 0.6 miles, and then sets off through the woods. I don’t really know how to accurately describe the hike after leaving the road. There are no landmarks, and our route to the falls led from the woods down to a path that ran along the base of a cliff face. I went with someone who knew the way. Once you find the spot where you can get down the cliff, it’s easy, but finding that point is challenging. This drop is close to where you reach the base of the cliff, heading in the opposite direction of the route to Middle Creek Falls. As you come down to the base of the cliff, this one would be off to your right.
