Middle Creek Falls is one of the most amazing waterfalls I’ve seen. I’m not even going to try to describe it. Pictures give a better idea, but even those don’t fully capture the scene.
Where to park: Parking is at the Middle Creek Equestrian parking area in Big South Fork, which is located at GPS: 36.53421, -84.78074.
The hike: The hike starts on the Gobblers Knob Trail for the first 0.6 miles, and then sets off through the woods. I don’t really know how to accurately describe the hike after leaving the road. There are no landmarks, and our route to the falls led from the woods down to a path that ran along the base of a cliff face. I went with someone who knew the way. Once you find the spot where you can get down the cliff, it’s easy, but finding that point is challenging.
