Rhododendron Hell Falls is a nice drop, but it has two problems. The first is that you can’t see all of it from one place, and the other is that it’s downstream of Middle Creek Falls. There is no trail down to it, only a steep hillside thick with rhododendron.

Where to park: Parking is at the Middle Creek Equestrian parking area in Big South Fork, which is located at GPS: 36.53421, -84.78074.

The hike: The hike starts on the Gobblers Knob Trail for the first 0.6 miles, and then sets off through the woods. I don’t really know how to accurately describe the hike after leaving the road. There are no landmarks, and our route to the falls led from the woods down to a path that ran along the base of a cliff face. I went with someone who knew the way. Once you find the spot where you can get down the cliff, it’s easy, but finding that point is challenging. The way down to Rhododendron Hell Falls is the steep hillside, very close to Middle Creek Falls.
