Waterfalls on NC 215 South

Upper Dill Falls – July 2015

There are two sections of NC 215 and for ease of reference I use the Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP) as the divider. The South section extends from US64 West of Brevard to the BRP. The North section goes from the BRP to US276. The drive on NC 215 from US64 to US276 is about as scenic a drive as you’re going to find. It also provides access to dozens of waterfalls. Everyone who comes to Western North Carolina has their favorite area to explore. Mine is NC 215 North. Four of my top 10 waterfalls are along this section of NC 215, as well as two of my favorite hikes. My explorations of NC215 South are far less thorough than the northern section so in time, I expect to fill up this page. On NC215 North, the parking is roadside. This isn’t the case on NC215 S.

I use the intersection with the Blue Ridge Parkway as the basis for all of my distance measurements. I started my trip meter at the base of the ramp before I make the right onto NC 215 and pass under the BRP. If you’re going to use my mileages, drive slowly and keep an eye out for the pull outs and turns. If you drive past one, getting turned around on NC 215 is difficult. The road is winding and sees a lot of motorcycle traffic so be alert. The follow page is arranged by distance from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Less than a mile into the descent from the BRP there is a wide pullout on the left where you can look at Devil’s Courthouse.
