Where to park: The parking for Anne Ruby Falls is at the end of Anna Ruby Falls Road, around 3.4 miles from GA356 in Unicoi State Park. This is a fee area, so be prepared to pony up if you want to check it out. The other thing to consider is the crowd. We went in Mid-December and there were people all over the place. I can only imagine in the summer.
The hike: The hike starts in front of the visitor center and follows a paved path for half a mile to the falls. There are two observation decks to take in the two waterfalls. Anna Ruby Falls is on Smith Creek which is the taller of the two drops. There is a shorter waterfall on York Creek. When looking at the falls, York Creek is on the right. It was hard to get a decent picture from the deck, and even harder to get one that didn’t include someone’s selfie stick. It’s like that. It’s not my kind of hike, but it was easy enough, and my dog Axel didn’t eat anyone’s purse dog, so it’ll go down as a successful hike.
