Where to park: Parking is on the side of SC107 where FS702 Bee Cove West Road starts. FS702 is marked as a primitive road, and in my 2023 Jeep, I had no issue driving it to the lower parking area. Unless you have a 4×4, NOT an AWD vehicle, you don’t want to drive down this road. It is 1.5 miles to drive to the lower parking area, where a series of Jeep Mounds block another road that heads to the right. You can park at: 34.98222, -83.05408.
The hike: The hike starts at FS702 at SC107, following the gravel road for 1.5 miles to the lower parking area. Make a right onto an overgrown road with a series of Jeep mounds at the start. This road is in decent shape at first, but you will be climbing over a lot of stuff, and this is before it gets narrow and starts to descend. The route is obvious, but you have to watch where you’re going, or you will miss the steeper trail that leads down to the base. It was marked with ribbons on my last visit, but those tend to come and go. It is 0.75 miles from the lower trailhead to the base of the uppermost drop.
If you want to see the rest of the drops, it’s a matter of following the creek lower. We would get to one drop, climb away from the creek, drop down to the next, etc. There aren’t many landmarks I can give you, and most people contain their visit to the upper drop, which is the nicest one. The hike out from the bottom of the lowest drop can be done on a ridge, but its steep and overgrown with lots of downfall. The hike back to the lower parking area goes by quickly, but slogging 1.5 miles up FS702 epitomizes the term: Death March. Its only about 500 feet of elevation, but it feels like 2000 feet.
The main drop is the featured image, but I have cellphone shots of all of them. I have been to Bee Cove Falls four times, and it is always sunny.
