Where to park: The closest trailhead is at Salt Rock Gap, which is at the end of Breedlove Road. The way in is mostly paved until the last quarter of a mile. Panthertown tends to be a busy place, and parking can be a bit of a nightmare on weekends.
The hike: The hike starts on the Panthertown Valley Trail at the end of the parking area. It passes several other trails over the next mile, the last of which is the Mac’s Gap Trail. Around a tenth of a mile after passing the Mac’s Gap Trail, the Panthertown Valley Trail crosses an unnamed tributary of Panthertown Creek. The unimpressive Coolidge Falls will be on the right. Maybe you’ll get lucky and it will have some water on it when you see it. If not, enjoy the wet rock and use your indignation.
