Where to park: Your kayaking adventure will start at The Devil’s Fork State Park day use boat ramp which is located at 34.96319, -82.95129. There is a daily use fee to access the parking area, and it does fill up, but not like the state park.

The idea: We had been paddling quite a bit on Lake Jocassee in the summer of 2023 and while looking for different places to visit, i spotted a marker for Double Springs Mountain Falls.

The paddle: Set off toward Double Spring Mountain, which is due north of the put in. If you mark the waterfall waypoint in a tracking app, you can use that to get you to the right cove. That’s the way I found it. The only bad part of the paddle is crossing the main channel with all the power boats screaming past on their way to Wright Creek Falls. The waterfall flows off the west side of Double Spring Mountain and requires a short hike into the woods to reach it.
