The trailhead: The trailhead for Red Eft Falls and the three waterfalls above it is on NC281, 6.9 miles north of US64. There is a pullout and an old road at GPS 35.19313, -82.95669.
The hike: Follow the old road for 0.25 of a mile. Red Eft Falls is on the left right next to the road. You can climb up to get a better look at what is a very nice waterfall with wonderful color in the rocks. Getting to this one was easy. That won’t be the case with the three above it and that journey begins with climbing up and around Red Eft Falls. From Red Eft, it is a combination of bushwhacking and creek-walking. We’re talking about 0.2 of a mile from Red Eft to the upper waterfall with about 325 feet of elevation gain. The going will be slow.

The next waterfall is a hundred feet upstream, but it will take some doing to reach it. The worst of it is getting around Red Eft Falls and getting back down to the creek. Stay on river right the whole time. The second waterfall is Black Eft Falls. A tenth of a mile upstream is the third waterfall, which is also accessed from river right. D Eft Falls is the third waterfall, and maybe another hundred feet or so upstream is the fourth member of the group, Hidden Cl Eft Falls. Getting to the upper three is a blend of bushwhacking and creek-walking. I don’t have a lot I can tell you about the best approach other than we never spent any time on river left. The table below the gallery has the specific locations of each waterfall. Hope that helps.
