Unexpected Falls is along the side of US178 close to Horse Pasture Road. I spotted this unexpected waterfall one evening when I was driving past on my way home. A few months later, after a day devoted to crawling around Laurel Fork, I stopped to check it out. The stream is blue-less, meaning it does not show up on topo maps. You can see it from the road if you know where to look. You can pull off not to far away and walk back to it. It is on public land.
