Where to park: The easiest place to park is at the wide spot on the side of FS696, which ties into Hale Ridge Road. The GPS where we parked is: 34.98591, -83.26779.
The hike: The hike leaves the side of the road where you parked at 34.98591, -83.26779, heading down the ridge toward the waterfall. It’s mostly open near the road, and a rhodo tangle closer to the creek, like most of the hikes in this area, the moment they leave the trail. The waterfall is pretty loud, and navigating to the base based on the sound isn’t an issue. The hike is barely 0.4 miles one way, and only the last 0.1 is overgrown. The waterfall has a main drop and a slide below, with the upper section accounting for most of the height. It’s a very nice setting, and back in 2020 when we visited, we cleared a lot of the downfall off the waterfall.
