Parking: The trailhead parking is on the side of Old NC105, Kistler memorial Highway. The trailhead is close to 35.81066, -81.93908, which is about 3.8 miles from the intersection with NC126. There wasn’t anything there to make the trailhead, but I haven’t been back in a few years so this might have changed.

The hike: The start of the trail was hard to find on my last visit. The old road turns to the left from the start but very quickly bends back to the right on a gentle downward grade. The road is easy to follow for the first half mile. At this point, a trail heads to the right, and this is the way you want to go. The woods are pretty open at this point, and the trail was easy to follow even with the brush encroaching. The trail runs down the middle of a ridge toward the creek, but before reaching the creek, it comes to a small cliff. On my visit, there was a ladder there to help make the descent. If it’s still there five years later and if it’s still in decent condition, I can’t say. The path gets a little steeper after the ladder as the ridge runs down to the creek just below the falls. The hike wasn’t hard, and without the ladder, the detour wouldn’t be too much.
