*This area has changed greatly since Hurricane Helene and I have not been back since the storm so my directions may or may not be entirely accurate.
Parking: The trailhead parking is on Big Hungry Road. The Pulliam Creek Trailhead parking is located at 35.29104, -82.3287 and Google knows the way if you type it in.
The hike: The Pulliam Creek Trail leaves from the middle of the parking area on a gentle downward grade. The Rock Hop Trail branches off after half a mile, but that’s the only intersection until reaching the spur trail down to Pulliam Creek. The steep spur trail is on the right at the 1.4 mile mark from the trailhead. The Pulliam Creek Trail bends off to the left, and eventually connects to the Bear Branch Trail. I’ve come at this one from from the Green River Cove Trail, and other than the trailheads being so far apart, this would make a great shuttle hike.
After taking the spur path, it will be a matter of picking your way down the incredibly steep trail down to the creek. I’ve seen ropes here in the past, and on other occasions, they were removed. I’m not a huge fan of using ropes that have been lying out in the elements for anything more that steadying myself. I have no idea what’s out there since I haven’t been to the falls in a few years. At the bottom of the trail, you will have to cross the creek to get to the best vantage. There used to be a small bridge, but I’m guessing it’s long gone.
If you walk out toward the Green River, you can see Sunshine Falls, which likely looks nothing like my picture. A friend who kayaks said the Green River Narrows looks very different after Hurricane Helene.
