Upper Mingo Falls is the 18 foot upper companion to Mingo Falls in Cherokee. When I went in 2019 and 2020, there was a trail that could be used to get to the falls. It wasn’t marked and you needed to look to find it. The last time I went to Mingo Falls in 2021, the trail was posted. So, until I can get back that way and see if that trail is open again. I’m not going to provide directions. It’s not hard to figure out, but I’m not going to encourage entering an area that is posted. If you have been there recently and the trail to the upper falls was open, drop me a line. I likely won’t get out that way until April/May when I resume working on the Smokies 800.
