Rip Breeches Falls might take the prize as the most meh waterfall on Steels Creek. I been to it a few times, but the last time I hiked the MST in this area, I didn’t once consider leaving the trail to check it out. The Steels Creek Trail (also known as the MST meets up with FR496 at this point 35.94222, -81.858. This is about 0.4 of a mile past Upper Steels Creek Falls. The white blazed MST descends from FR496. Follow it for 0.8 of a mile or so to this point 35.93652, -81.85091. This is where I left the trail and headed toward the sound of falling water. Don’t expect too much. The bushwhack is easy enough if you choose the right route. First two pics are from my visit with Jen in 2019 and the other two are from a visit with Amanda in 2021. The 2021 hike we did as a shittle hitting Rip Breeches, Teacups Falls, Beverly Hillbilly, and Steels Creek Falls starting at FR496 and ending at the lower TH for Steels Creek Falls. If you got a friend with a car and you want to see these four, the shuttle is the way to go.
