From Robbinsville take NC143 West until reaching the start of the Cherohala Skyway. Don’t take the skyway but make a right to stay on Santeetlah Road. Santeetlah Road will come to a four way stop after descending into the valley. At the stop, cross through the intersection and in 1.7 miles you will come to Verlie Falls on the left. The part you can see is cluttered and not terribly attractive. Unless you happen to be out this way for another reason, this isn’t a waterfall you’ll want to plan your day around. On the way back you can either drive back to the start of the Skyway or you can make a left at the 4-way stop and take US129 back to Robbinsville.
