The Falls on Cullowhee Creek is a roadside waterfall on Cullowhee Mountain Road roughly 5.2 miles from the intersection with NC107. The falls is located on private property and the roadside view if awful at best. There is a pullout where you can see the upper section of the falls covered in a slew of downed trees. The larger drop falls from sight but there is no vantage to see what it does after it crosses the brink.
To get to pullout for The Falls on Cullowhee Creek from US74, exit the Great Smoky Mountains Expressway at Exit 85 and make a slight left onto Beta Circle Rd/Steeple Rd. Follow Beta Circle Road and make an almost immediate left onto Cope Creek Road. Remain on Cope Creek Road for 2.3 miles until it dead-ends into NC107 just North of Western Carolina University. Take NC107 South past the campus and make a right onto Cullowhee Mountain Road. At one mile, Tilley Creek Road branches to the right. Remain on Cullowhee Mountain Road for another 3.0 miles to a view of the falls on the left side of the road. You can’t miss it. It’s right behind the private property sign! Drive 1.2 miles past this roadside waterfall to an abysmal view of this high waterfall. No picture!
