Home Alphabetical Listing Numerical Listing Location Listing Brevard
Glencannon Falls is a roadside waterfall in the Brevard area just outside of downtown on a now closed golf course. The waterfall is visible from the road but with the property posted as private you can’t walk up to it. I had to take my shots from the side of the road with a zoom lens to the quality stinks. While not something you’re going to drive hours to see, if you are in the area you can swing by this one and the Waterfall on Williamson Creek which is a few miles away to add a couple of easy ones to the list.
To reach the Glencannon Falls starting at the US64/NC280/US276 intersection by Pisgah Forest, head West on US64 toward downtown Brevard. When you enter town US64 climbs the hill toward a meeting with Main Street where US64 and US276 split. Make a left onto US276 and follow it for 2 miles before making a left onto Wilson Road. Williamson Creek Road will be on the right about 1.2 miles. Keep heading straight for another 1.1 miles to Glencannon Drive (2.3 miles from US276) and make a right. The waterfall is on the right in 0.7 miles.
There isn’t a lot of places to pull over and park but there is a decent view from behind the fence on the side of the road. While it may seem tempting to walk on up. this is private property and heavily signed. The waterfall is abotu 25 feet high and framed by a thick green forested hillside. Sadly the overgrown golf course makes for a dreadful foreground.
