Briefcase Falls is one I have been to several times, but I never took a picture of it due to the conditions. My previous visit was in a thunderstorm, and the creek was raging, but there was no way I could get a shot. It looked a lot different back in 2020 and 2021 than it did on my 2026 visit.

Where to park: The parking is at the end of Gallimore Road, at a wide area on the left as you’re pulling in. The GPS for the parking area is: 35.29009 -82.35955.

The hike: Walk past the gate and follow the obvious trail that parallels the creek. It isn’t hard to follow and, it will feel like a construction zone with the silt fencing on the right in places. There is a trail to get down to Case Falls, and it’s pretty obvious, but if you need a better landmark, there is a tree that is snapped off about eight feet up the trunk. The trail goes right under it! The trail meanders a bit as it heads down to the creek, and along the way, a side path goes to the left. It’s not well-worn, so you need to pay attention, but once you’re on it, following it isn’t a problem. It will swing around the top of the falls and come out on a rocky area on river left. There is a tree near the base of the falls that limits the photo options. The waterfall is about 15 feet tall with a nice shape.
