Todd Creek Falls is a lone waterfall on this part of Todd Creek. The waterfall has two trailheads that come at the falls from opposite directions. I can only speak to the route that comes from the parking area on Maw Bridge Road. The official parking area is on Brookbend Road. The waterfall and trails in this area are within the confines of the Todd Creek – Clemson Experimental Forest.
Where to park: The parking area is in a roadside pullout on Maw Bridge Road. The GSP coordinates are 34.74996, -82.80866. If you park here, do not block the gate.
The hike: Walk past the gate on the roadbed and look for the trail heading into the woods on your right. The trail is in great shape, and not too challenging as it meanders through the woods. When the woods end at a powerline easement, you get an overhead view of Todd Creek Falls. Stay on the trail as it veers toward one of the powerline towers where it meets a much steeper trail heading down the hillside. The section of the trail is rutted with lots of loose rocks. When it levels out, it turns to the right and meets up with the trail coming down from the other trailhead. Make a left on the obvious path to the base of the falls.
The waterfall is nice, and the hike is easy enough. Obviously, this one is going to be busy in the summer. There were half a dozen people at the falls when I arrived, and luckily for me, I managed to get my pictures before they started climbing on it. It’s that kinda waterfall. The hike out is a reverse of the hike in. I turned it into a loop by taking a less obvious path from the junction with the trail heading to the other parking area, following it uphill on a series of old roadbeds until reaching Maw Bridge Road.
