Lower Cave Falls is the last waterfall on the creek before it crosses River Road and enters the South Pacolet River. The waterfall is about 20 feet high, and a collection point for dead trees. There is a cool mossy cliff on river right when you get to the base.
To reach Lower Cave Falls, refer to the Cave Falls hike, which will get you as far as the small rock culvert.
Coming up the grade, cross the culvert and head down on the other side. There is a small hemlock lying on its side near this point. Once you get down to creek level, there is a collection of downfall that you need to climb over to head upstream. The pile looks imposing, but it’s easy to get over it, and from there, you can walk on the exposed bedrock all the way to the base of the falls.
