The next waterfall on the list is going to require leaving the main park area. The drive is about ten minutes. From the visitor’s center parking lot, make a right onto Hanging Rock Park Road and follow it to the main entrance. After passing through the gate, take a left on Moores Springs Road. Follow Moore’s Springs Road to Hall Road, which will be on the left. Pay attention or you will drive right past it. Follow Hall Road until it dead ends at Mickey Road and make a left. Stay on Mickey Road until you reach Charlie Young Road where you will make a left. The parking area and trailhead will be on your left when Charlie Young Road Ends.
Having left the park, we also left the crowds behind. It was almost euphoric seeing only one car and a cable TV repair truck in the parking lot. The trail is at the upper end of the parking area. The entirety of the hike is about 0.2 of a mile one way. Along the way you will pass Torys Den, a cave that goes back about 25 feet. Moving past the cave, you can venture onto the rocks to get a look at Torys Den Falls. The rocks don’t give the best view and the only way to get a better view is to risk a painful fall, which I opted against. I’ve heard there is a trail down to the lower part of the falls but I did not have a chance to search for it on this trip. Next time!
